Employment and Training Programs
We believe that work plays a crucial role in everyone's life.
Work defines who we are and gives us a sense of accomplishment and self-esteem as
we relate to our families and to the community. Through our Employment and Training
Programs, we do more than just help people with barriers to employment find jobs. We
provide them with ways to get control of their own lives while living in and benefiting
from the shared community. We believe it is important to enable each person to make
a meaningful contribution to society by helping them become working, tax-paying citizens.
The key is opportunity. This is what Goodwill Industries offers through our
Employment and Training Programs.
 Work Adjustment Training:
Work Adjustment Training is designed to help the individual understand the
meaning, necessity, and demands of our society's work force; develop a realistic concept
as a self-worker, acquire good work habits; and acquire strong social skills in forming
relationships with supervisors and co-workers.
Personal and Social Adjustment Training:
This program is designed to help disabled adults learn to live more
independently of others. It stresses concepts such as daily living skills,
nutrition, safety, and hygiene.
Job Coaching:
The job coach's primary responsibility is to work side-by-side with a newly
placed Goodwill client at the job site to demonstrate how to perform the required duties
of the job. The job coach gradually removes his/her guidance as the client becomes
more confident in the job.
Job Readiness Training:
Job Readiness Training (JRT) assists clients in improving their job-seeking
and job-keeping skills. JRT enables clients to communicate their abilities
effectively to potential employers once placement has taken place.
Goodwill Temporary Services:
Goodwill Temporary Services provides state agencies with temporary employees
in positions such as customer service, secretarial, janitorial, and food service.
Priority is given to applicants with disabilities and/or disadvantages.
