IN
MEMORY
Jeffery C. Mellor came to Heart of Texas Goodwill Industries in 1995 as a cashier
trainee at the Veterans Memorial Boulevard Store in Killeen. Jeff received
Goodwill's Achiever of the Year award in 1998. Now, after his passing, we would like
to honor him again.
Jeff taught us about patience and how important it is to give reassurance to someone
not sure of life from day to day. Jeff taught us that it is acceptable to need
consistency and repetition in your daily activities. Probably most important of all,
Jeff taught us how important it is to keep fighting the battle, even on the days you don't
seem to be winning.
A lot of the credit for Jeff's success goes to his parents. John Mellor, Jeff's
dad, held an important place in Jeff's life. Goodwill saw John as a companion for
Jeff to vacation with each year. These vacations were the only time Jeff would agree
to take time off from work at Goodwill. Oh, did Jeff look forward to those trips
with his dad.
Julie Mellor, Jeff's mom, shared a home with Jeff here in Killeen. A great mom -
someone to be supportive, yet give that extra push out of the nest. Someone to
maintain high standards of living and believe in an individual's self-sufficiency. A
counselor herself, someone to foster in Jeff the belief that work is productive and
promotes quality of life.
Jeff was always there for us and will continue to be in our thoughts.
Thank you, Julie and John, for sharing your son with us.
